Membership Numbers

We are trying to recruit new adult members of all ages. It would be very good if we could attract some new members of an age similar to those currently serving in our Armed Forces. If you are interested please contact Sue Arnold - Telephone: 01780 782200.

Welfare

The Branch is responsible for the Royal British Legion's care in cases of need involving Service or ex-Service men or women and their dependants - whether they are members of the Legion or not. In such cases a Welfare Committee member will arrange an interview to identify the most appropriate way in which the Legion may be able to help.

The Legion requires all those who carry out this work to have attended one of its caseworker training courses to qualify as members of the Branch's Welfare Committee. If you are interested, please contact Sue Arnold.

In addition to the committee members there are local welfare representatives who know people in their areas and may become aware of a case of need to refer to a caseworker. In the event of illness or bereavement for example, these representatives have been and continue to be most helpful. This will not involve financial help but a home or hospital visit for example will be much appreciated.

Local representatives continue to be available as contacts with our Branch and the committee is very grateful for their help. However, they cannot exercise this function unless other members get in touch with them. Often we have only heard of an opportunity when the occasion has passed.
