Parcels for the Troops

Welcome to the Stamford Branch of The Royal British Legion

The Branch resumed its programme of troop parcels, after the Christmas break. Laura English has kindly taken over responsibility for the parcels and, through the good offices of the Stamford Mercury, has obtained a fresh stock of materials to send to the troops in Afghanistan. Laura of course has a vested interest in this programme as her own husband, Rich, is himself due for deployment there shortly!

Laura got off to an early start however when she, with several of her friends, other wives at RAF Wittering and even two ladies who responded to her Facebook invitation, gathered in Clare Close on 21 January for their first packing session. Soon the familiar filling, weighing, wrapping and labeling 'departments' were in full swing and, as you will see here, triumphantly packed 50 parcels.  Branch membership forms were handed out!

Laura hopes to hold another packing session in a few weeks time and would welcome the help of other Branch members and spouses and also contributions to the stockpile. We'd also like to thank the Stamford Mercury for all the support they have given us! To see the latest report on parcels for the troops, click here.
