Ruddington and District Royal British Legion

History

Ruddington Royal British Legion branch was formed on the 12th of March 1935 in Ruddington. At that time it had a legion responsibility for the parish of Ruddington a village in  South Nottinghamshire  in the borough of Rushcliffe. on the A60  some six miles from the centre of Nottingham.
As the years passed two branches Bunny and Willoughby closed and Ruddington took on the Legion and Poppy Appeal responsibility for their areas and at the same time added district to its name.
Now Ruddington & District Branch covers eight parishes in  south of Nottinghamshire, these being, Bunny, Bradmore, Costock, Rempstone, Widmerpool, Willoughby and Wysall which extends the District  to the Leicestershire border.
The branch which has 43 members is active both at local and county levels and meets at 20.00 hours, the first Thursday of each month at the St Peters Room, Ruddington.
