Thank you for visiting our website. We formed in 2012 because we wanted to proactively help to maintain the strong background that exists between the Royal British Legion and the Armed Forces. To do this we actively recruit serving and former members of the Armed Forces; of course, membership of 'the Legion' is open to anyone who shares in our ideas and values, whether or not you have any experiene of the British Armed Forces.
Next Branch Meeting:
Monday 12th June @ 1930hrs (7.30pm).
Crownhill RBL Club, Crownhill Plymouth.
Membership gives you the opportunity to get involved, both locally, regionally and nationally, in a wide range of activities, including the chance to attend the Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as special discounts on travel and insurance, and the quarterly 'Legion' national magazine and the quarterly 'Voice' branch newsletter. You can also get involved in the activities of the branch, including being voted onto the Branch Committee where you can really make a difference within the Legion.
To fulfil our aim of maintaining the strong bond between the Legion and the Armed Forces, as well as trying to recruit as many members of the Armed Forces as possible, we also organise events such as our stand-alone functions for members, and branch recruitment events which we hold in Plymouth city centre; we also take part in the Lord Mayors Show, Armed Forces Day and, of course, Plymouth Poppy Appeal. Some of our members are heavily involved with the Poppy Appeal, manning our stands in Marks & Spencer, Sainsburys, and the City Pannier Market. Some of our members volunteer in the new Pop-In Centre on Armada Way, some give presentations to both military and civilian audiences to showcase what the Legion offers in terms of assistance and grants, and some of our members simply wish to come along to the events that we hold. Whatever your reason for joining the Royal British Legion you will receive a warm welcome from the Plymouth City Centre Branch.
