Newbridge

The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian of Remembrance.

Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.

Some years ago, the original Newbridge war memorial was relocated to the Welsh Folk Museum at St Fagans, where it stands proudly, close to the rebuilt Oakdale Miners Institue building.

Each year Newbridge branch hold their initial Remembrance Day Parade at St Fagans on the Saturday prior to the official Sunday commemoration. All are welcome, and we are often joined by members of the public on this occasion.

The official commemoration then takes place as always at the new memorial in the centre of Newbridge on the Remembrance Day Sunday.
