Lest We Forget Corner


Edwin "Eddie" Cole 1931 - 1917.  A loyal and steadfast member of the Branch, Eddie moved to Mayfield in 1993 and was well-known throughout the village due to his involvement with lawn bowls, the Monday Club and the Royal British Legion.

Alan Parry 1927 - 1917.  Instrumental in the re-formation of the Mayfield and Five Ashes Royal British Legion Branch and generous benefactor to many local charities.  Alan was a true gentleman and a friend to many in the village.

Carolyn Freedman 1950 - 2016.  A regular attendee of branch meetings and an active participant of the ladies' group.  Carolyn was a gifted linguist with an enthusiasm for travel and an interest in people.  She had moved to Mayfield in 2010 and had become an active member of village life.

Albert "Bert" Lodge 1928 - 2014.  A regular attendee at Branch meetings for many years and well-known throughout the village of Mayfield.  Bert was conscripted into the army as a bombardier and later gained promotion to a sergeant in the Education Corps.

Shirley Anne Parry 1933 - 2014. Beloved wife of sixty years of Alan and friend of many Branch members. Gifted amateur dramatist, keen tennis player and generous hostess.  

Major Rex Hitchcock  1919 - 2014.  Rex was a Wicklow-born soldier who won the Military Cross for valour.
