Lyme Regis

The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian of Remembrance.

Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.

However, please remember that Poppies are not only for the 11th November but all year so please donate generously whenever you feel able to do so to this national cause.

Specifically here in Lyme Regis we also take time to honour those fallen in specific local events on Remembrance Saturday as follows:

A short remembrance service at the HMS Formidable Grave, followed by a service at the Polish Airman's Memorial in Anning Road and at the Town War Memorial.

Poppy crosses are also laid at the gravee of our Commomwealth War Graves and for Lt Commander Cookson, a VC holder buried in the Town Cemetry.

If you are ever in the midlands why not make a visit to the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas. Please follow the link below to their site.
