The Poppy Appeal in the City of Lincoln
Thanks are again due to all the people of Lincoln who have been so generous with their donations, and to the 200 plus volunteers that helped with the 2017/18 Poppy Appeal. The appeal work began on 1st October 2017 and went into overdrive for 2 weeks of high intensity fundraising around the Remembrance period then ran through the year to 30th September 2018.
The appeal was well supported by the city's businesses and retailers, by Lincoln City Football Club and by Lincoln Cathedral. Stalls were run in support of the appeal at various events including the Armed Forces Day and Lincoln 1940's weekend activities. Lincoln Fire and Rescue Band very kindly performed a Concert of Remembrance in support of the appeal.
The appeal closed on 30th September 2018 as the 2018/19 appeal launched and it was revealed that the City of Lincoln District had raised £100,330 in the city - setting a new branch record and also becoming the only District in the County to surpass the £100,000 raised in a year mark.
The 2018/19 year has begun very well with collections during the 2 week high intensity window being reported as attracting much public interest and generous support
