Welcome to the Javea Branch of The Royal British Legion

HAVE YOUR SAY ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THE LEGION

TRBL has been advised to review its royal charter and would like all members to give us their input and guidance.  The advice given comes from charity legal experts who have gone through the Charter and concluded that it doesn’t follow guidance on what is nowadays considered to be best practice. It isn’t as clearly written as it could be, for one thing, and isn’t what people would now call ‘user friendly’. Is this an opportunity to review and update it?
The Royal Charter is made up of three elements – the Articles, the Rules and the Governing Regulations – the order of precedence for these being outlined in this graphic (right). There are also a number of by-laws and standing orders on various topics. Reading through all the documents, it soon becomes clear that there’s significant duplication with sections of our Membership Handbook, while a number of inconsistencies stand out. It’s also possible that the documents could be made more flexible, allowing us  to serve the Legion’s beneficiaries better
Have your say - the survey is now open so take 5 minutes to get your voice heard by completing this survey.

STOP PRESS - ANOTHER POPPY APPEAL RECORD!!!

The Javea Branch of The Royal British Legion is proud and delighted to announce that the total raised for this year's Poppy Appeal was €9679.69 - a whopping 11% increase on last year's total.

We want to thank all of the businesses, groups and individuals who helped us to raise this huge amount of money.  In today's climate, we know that money is tight but your generosity is fantastic.  Every penny raised by the Poppy Appeal goes to help ex-Service personnel of all ages and their families all over the world, whenever they are in need.  Your generous donations will make a substantial difference to their lives - thank you again Javea and the surrounding area!

The Legion provides financial, social and emotional care and support to all members of the British Armed Forces - past and present and their families. The Legion is also the national Custodian of Remembrance and safeguards the Military Covenant between the nation and its Armed Forces and is best known for the annual Poppy Appeal and its emblem, the red poppy.

Founded in 1921, the Legion is not just about those who fought in the World Wars of the last century, but also about those involved in the many conflicts since 1945 and those still fighting for the freedom we enjoy today.

Visit www.britishlegion.org.uk for details of our national initiatives.

Javea Branch meets at 11.30 on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Paris 24 Tennis Club in Javea except during July and August.

Membership is open to everyone. If you have an interest in the objectives of the Legion and want to help and support for those who have served and their families, come and join us. We welcome men and women of all ages, whether they have served in the Armed Forces or not.

Legion membership ensures that

  • Remembrance is kept alive and that the sacrifices our brave Service men and women have made are never forgotten.
  • The ex-Service community have a voice and that their concerns are brought to the public eye.

Becoming a member also provides the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities and events held locally, regionally and nationally throughout the year.
