On 6th July 1921, a meeting of former sailors and soldiers was held, where the resolution was adopted “That this meeting of ex Service men hereby accept “The Constitution of the British Legion” and formally established a Branch of the Legion, to be known as the “Hayling Island Branch”
It is a pleasure to introduce you to the Royal British Legion Branch of Hayling Island. Branches were formed throughout the UK in the aftermath of the Great War, to provide support and comradeship to the returning veterans, in memory of the many thousands who did not return and to offer succour to those in need.
Here on Hayling Island dedicated group formed a Branch and raised funds to provide the Legion with a building, which opened in 1926.
The doors have never closed since, and today we have one of the largest premises in the southern area. The Club itself puts on numerous social events and you are invited to come see what you think – I feel sure you will enjoy yourselves
All who support the aims of the Legion are welcome, both young and old.
The Branch concentrates on ceremonial matters, the annual Poppy Appeal, and the welfare needs of our ex-Service Personel, needs which have intensified nationally over the years.
We pride ourselves on the support and financial help we have been able to provide, but this has only been possible through the efforts of the membership and donations.
To join the Royal British Legion costs just £18.00 per year. Join here
