Hallamshire

The Hallamshire Branch represents the Royal British Legion at the annual Remembrance ceremony for the American servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice on February 22nd, 1944 when their B-17G Flying Fortress 'Mi Amigo' bomber aircraft from 305th Bomb Group crashed in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield following enemy fighter attack during a bombing mission on a Luftwaffe airfield in Northern Denmark.

The annual memorial service is held at the site of the fatal crash, which is marked with a memorial stone, in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield.

These are pictures from the ceremony on Sunday 19th February 2023 with Branch Chairman Robert Hunter laying our wreath at the memorial and Branch Standard Bearer John Booker standing adjacent.
