Chairman: The recently formed Branch Poppy Committee (BPC) has held two meetings and a formulated approach to this year's efforts is being composed.

We have taken over the Poppy franchise for Morrisons at Halfway. Some existing sellers (non Legion members) will stay, on but help will be needed from branch members.

Sylvia Hall: Sylvia has recently seen a range of Pencil Sharpeners fashioned in the form of WW2 Fighter Aircraft which she feels we be good sellers. The BPC will investigate.

6. Agenda:

Dave Warburton: Alan Walker recently attended a meeting of RBL Branch Poppy Organisers, at which a number of safety points were raised.

  1. Stalls must have a minimum of two personnel present at all times

  2. Counting cash should be carried out, where possible, in a safe room. If this isn't possible, then the locations should be varied and repeated patterns of behaviour avoided.

  3. Transporting cash needs to be carefully addressed. Consider getting assistance from Security Groups (G4S for instance) and think about specific insurance.

The BPC will take these and other recommendations on board and they will form part of this year's formulated approach.

Walter Whiteley voiced concerns on behalf of his own branch in this field of operation. The Chairman said she would provide him with the necessary literature to take back to his own branch meetings.

Proposed by Gail Leach, Seconded by Anne Warburton, that we introduce a December meeting, 2nd or 3rd Wednesday as appropriate, to take the form of a short meeting and an informal Pre-Christmas celebration. Carried

Proposed by Kath House, seconded by Brian Marshall, that we separate the February meetings from the Pie'n'Peas night. The meetings to take place on 3rd Wednesday, the function on a date to be determined. Carried

There will be no meetings in January

Chairman: Bryan Green is nominated for a National Membership Council role. Branch has given him our vote

Chairman: Gail Leach has offered to take on the role of patron to new members, introducing them to everyone and generally making them welcome. Thank you Gail.

Chairman: Welfare Visits need to be noted for both Local and National statistics. Would anyone making a welfare visit or attending a funeral on behalf of the legion, please let Steve or myself know at future meetings. These can then be collated and passed to the appropriate authority.
