Opening Parade for The Poppy Appeal 28th Oct 2012

Welcome to the East Barnet Branch of The Royal British Legion

The launch of the annual Poppy Appeal 2012 start was marked by a march from the Legion Headquarters in Brookhill Road, through East Barnet Villiage to the Barnet Brookside Methodist Church on 28th October.

Members of The East Barnet Royal British Legion was joined by MP Theresa Villiers, The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Greater London, Martin Russell, members of the Ghurkas and the Emerald Society Pipe Band.

Following a short service officiated over by Reverend Colin Smith and Reverend James Mustard, who was also official inaugerated joint Chaplain of The Legion, a march back to the Legion Headquarters where the fund raising was kicked off by the Metropolitan Police Service Greek Staff Association, who sponsored the Saracens Rugby Club under 15's playing shirt with poppy insignia raised £250 cheque, which was presented to Martin Russell and a replica framed shirt presented to Branch Chairman Doug Read.
