Welcome to the Crewe Branch of The Royal British Legion
Ernest Cope (MBE) Pop-In Centre and Museum
The Royal British Legion Crewe branch have acquired (March 2013) two market units located in the indoor market, in Crewe.
The aim of the Information Centre is to get the Branch into the local community, and provide a resource for the public, veterans and serving soldiers adevertising about what the Legion do and how the long standing charity could assist them (Veterans/Serving soldiers) in times of need. The project will carry out the Royal Charter, making the public more aware of our values and educating them about The Legion as a whole.
We are a diverse and unique charity, being branch and member based this gives us a perfect platform to do community projects such as this one. *
We are proud that we as a Branch operate the first kind of 'Pop-In' centre of this kind in the Country! (Branch started), and hope it can serve the public and veteran community alike.
The 'Grand Opening Ceramony' took place on the 4th April 2013. Thank you to those of you that attended!
Along with the Information Centre we are also starting a collection of memorabilia to put on show to the public. These range from Legion items to militaria and service orientated items. Anything that has relevance will be shown.
As it is 2014 and 100 years from the commencement of WWI we are looking for donations/ items for loan to display in our museum, to commemorate the brave souls who fought and died for the freedoms we enjoy today.
If you think you have such an item please contact the Branch via the PR Officer (details below).
Ways to help
Do you have spare time to help out on market days so that the information centre can open and function?
Do you or someone you know have any items that could be donated or loaned to the museum to help it attain a level that will keep people interested?
If so please contact the branch via our Facebook page.
* No funds raising or donations will be recieved at this point. This is NOT a charity shop and will not function as a profitable business. It will function by the rules set out in the Royal Charter.
