Welcome to the Bredon Branch of The Royal British Legion

February 2011

I doubt that those who give to charities have in mind that their donations will simply sit in bank savings accounts earning less interest than the current rate of inflation.   Accordingly, Bredon Branch of the RBL has recently given away a substantial portion of its "savings" for immediate use, as follows:

  • Local Poppy Appeal:  £100.
  • RBL Worcester County Welfare Fund:  £1,000.
  • National Memorial Arboretum (NMA):  £1,000.

The County Welfare Fund includes Bredon and its surrounds; it deals with the here and now, and does what it says on the tin - the RBL's enormous, ongoing help to the modern generation of ex-Service men and women is often overlooked.

The NMA will use our donation to help fund the new Centre of Remembrance, shortly to be built there.  This will include a Remembrance Learning Centre, which will allow the NMA to more than double its work with the some 4,000 schoolchildren who visit each year.  (Mike Brumage, Secretary/Treasurer, Bredon RBL)
