Blyth

Welcome to the Blyth Branch of the Royal British Legion.

The Royal British Legion (RBL) is the UK's leading Armed Forces charity and one of its largest membership organisations. Through a network of branches and clubs, all over the country and overseas, our members get together to participate in various social, fundraising and welfare activities.

The Legion also encourages younger membership and Blyth's youth community is thriving.  Youth Members (aged 14-17 inclusive) can join for free and get involved with branch activities, such as our Katie-Jane who creates our quarterly branch newsletter.  It's a great way to gain experience and make your work CV stand out more against other school leavers.  Youth members can have their own sub-committee and host their own activities, under supervision of the main branch committee.

Youth members can become RBL Youth Ambassadors through school and clubs, encouraging others like them to work in the community and help the branch with activities and events for fundraising and veterans.

Do you know a young person who perhaps has a keen interest in community involvement, gaining work experience and making a difference to the lives of others ?  If so, please get in touch with blyth.secretary@rbl.community or message the Facebook page RBL Blyth as their joining process is different to that of adults.

RBL membership is open to everyone.  If you have an interest in RBL objectives and want to help/support those who have served the military and their families, please come and join us.  We welcome both men and women of all ages, whether they have served in HM Armed Forces or not.

Legion membership ensures that:

  • The Remembrance Service is kept alive and the personal sacrifices that our brave Service men and women are never forgotten.
  • Comradeship and support from those with similar experiences.
  • The ex-Service community have a voice and their concerns are brought to the public eye.

About The Royal British Legion:

We provide financial, social and emotional care and support to all members of the British Armed Forces both past and present, together with their families.  The Legion is also the national Custodian of Remembrance and safeguards the Military Covenant between the Nation and its Armed Forces.  However, it is best known for the annual Poppy Appeal and its emblem … the red poppy.

Founded in 1921, the Legion is not just about those who have fought in the World Wars of the last century but also about those involved in the many conflicts since 1945, including those still fighting for the freedom we enjoy today.

Visit www.britishlegion.org.uk for details of our national initiatives.
