The Bishop's Easter Message 2012

Many years ago, when I was first studying theology in Cambridge, I met a young Jesuit priest from Australia called Gerald O'Collins. Over the many years since we have kept in touch, and I rejoiced that he was able to be present in St Paul's Cathedral in 1994 when I was consecrated as a bishop in the Church of God. Gerry O'Collins has over the years produced many fine books, and I believe him to be one of the clearest writers and apologists for the Christian faith. He has written much on the Easter Gospel, and his most recent book, Jesus our Redeemer, explores the very heart of our faith - what does the passion and death of Jesus mean for us today?

Raising money for Greece

German Anglican and Episcopal churches raise money for Greece

German Anglican and Episcopal congregations are raising money to support the distribution of free meals for the needy by churches in Athens. Every day we can read in the newspapers about the financial situation in Greece and how much money German taxpayers are paying to Greece. However, this money does not go to the people who need it most, and therefore the Council of Anglican and Episcopal Churches in Germany has decided to raise money to support an the 'Church in the Street' programme in Athens.

Every second Tuesday at 19.30 we meet for a Taizé style worship of singing and silence in St George's church Preussenallee. The next evenings will be 27 March, 10 April and 24 April.
