In 2018, thousands of members and representatives helped The Royal British Legion recreate the 1928 Battlefields Pilgrimage to mark the centenary of the launch of the ‘Hundred Days Offensive’.
Then on 8 August 2018, members and representatives paraded through Ypres to the Menin Gate with their Standards and wreaths for the One Hundred Days ceremony to commemorate the centenary of the launch of the ‘Hundred Days Offensive’. They represented their communities and an entire generation that served while defending their country.
Berkhamsted, Tring and District Branch of the Legion sent two representatives to attend the GP90 ceremony at the Menin Gate: Chris Richards, our standard bearer, and Zach Fensome, a cadet from 2457 (Tring) - RAF Air Cadets. Chris and Zach enjoyed the ceremony immensely and were both proud to represent Berkhamsted and Tring community at such a prestigious event.
Our pictures show Chris and Zach preparing for the parade and a display of the many wreaths close by The Menin Gate. A third picture shows the wreath sent by Berkhamsted and Tring.
