Remembrance

Welcome to the Ashwell & District Branch of The Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion is recognised as the national custodian of Remembrance.

Remembrance Sunday, the second Sunday in November, is the day traditionally put aside to remember all those who have given their lives for the peace and freedom we enjoy today.

On Sunday 10th November 2013, the sun shone on the large number of people present at the Remembrance Service and laying of wreaths at the War Memorial, Ashwell.

It was estimated that well over 200 people attended the War Memorial service. A very encouraging turnout.

It was a joy to see the younger members of the village taking part.

From the Memorial, the youth organisations, Scouts, Guides, etc. paraded to St. Mary’s Church, Ashwell where a Service of Remembrance began at 3pm.
