Poppy Appeal

The Poppy Appeal in Ackworth and Pontefract

The Ackworth and Pontefract Branch, Royal British Legion, would like to express gratitude for the unstinting generosity of the people of Pontefract and surroundings.  For the year 2013-14 we have so far raised over £26,000 for the poppy fund.  The money will go to the National Poppy Fund which provides welfare for service men and women and their dependents. The money was raised through the sale of poppies and wreaths in Pontefract and Ackworth and also the collecting boxes that were place in shops and businesses in the area.  Further amounts were donated by various individuals and organisations.  We would also like to say "Thank you" to all the people who gave up some time to attend to the stalls in the supermarkets.

POPPY SELLERS ARE URGENTLY NEEDED TO ASSIST IN THIS YEAR'S COLLECTION.

If you can spare just two hours to help in one of the supermarkets in Pontefract, your efforts will be well rewarded, in knowing that you are doing your bit to help our service and ex service people and their dependents in times of difficulty.  STAND SHOULDER TO SHOULDER WITH OUR SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN.

Anyone interested in helping in the next Poppy Appeal should contact  Brian Berry on 01977 615268.  You can also email us at ackworthlegion.co.uk
