Memorial Tree Dedication 2015

Welcome to the Ackworth and Pontefract Branch of The Royal British Legion

The Friends of Friarwood Valley Gardens planted two chequer trees in May 2015.  The object being to provide long-lasting memorials.  One of the trees was adopted by the KOYLI Association to commemorate the regiment's long association with the town.  The second tree was adopted by members of the Royal British Legion.

The words on the plaque read:

"This chequer tree was planted in 2015 in memory and appeciation of all those who fought for our country in both world wars and conflicts since 1945.  The tree was donated by subscriptions from members of The Royal British Legion and the wider ex-service community."
